THE PORTLAND FOUNDRY

The alchemy of a bronze pour fires the senses;

the intense heat from the furnace,

the roar of the gas burners followed by the ethereal silence of the pour,

the smell of plaster wax and fire…

The Portland Foundry was established in 2021 and is located in the old heritage workshops of the former Portland Cement Works.

Conceived as a cultural asset for the region, the Foundry supports and educates emerging and regional artists, while also hosting workshops and public events. We provide opportunities to experience the creation of bronze sculptures through the time-honoured Italian Renaissance lost-wax method.
