John McDonald’s ‘Before Dawn’ Review
“Fasher is a fearless artist, but her travels in Asia have given her a new set of themes and a more reflective attitude towards her work. Pieces such as Kali and Sang Bung – Offering have mythological, ritualistic overtones, but they are also deeply personal. This is clear from the title of this survey, Before Dawn – that “always darkest” time of cold self-awareness, when one has emerged from sleep with a mind full of anxious thoughts. Fasher’s achievement lies in her ability to transform that anxiety into pure creative energy.”
